Family Dinner

Importance of Parent Involvement:

One Harvard University study links children's literacy and school success to explanatory talk at the dinner table. Another study done by Dr. Catherine Snow determined that dinnertime was of more value to child development than playtime, school and story time. There is power in family fellowship.

The language used by the family is not a determining factor. Students that develop conversational skills and academic vocabulary through family conversations learn to handle differences of opinion, hear new words and understand concepts.
