Application Process

Applications for available positions are received in the Personnel Office. 

Interview Process

When there is an open position, your application is made available to Rising Star ISD principals. If a principal wants to talk with you about a vacant position, that principal will call you directly. Principals set up their own interviews and make recommendations to the Personnel Office for hiring.

In order to make the interview/hiring process as streamlined as possible, please do not contact principals directly by telephoning or just "stopping by" his/her office. Principals are very busy, especially during the spring hiring season; however, as an optional activity, you may send a principal a written letter of interest with a resume. Hiring Process

Only offers for employment from the Personnel Office to an applicant are valid offers. You will be notified by the Personnel Office if you are to receive an offer of employment. Applicants that are not selected are not notified; however, you may contact the Personnel Office (254-643-1981) at any time to find out the status of a position.


Rising Star ISD accepts applications twelve months a year. Applications are processed throughout the year, and hiring takes place throughout the year. As would be expected, the busiest hiring time is in the spring for the following school year. Most spring hiring is done in April, May and June; therefore, applicants interested in being considered for the fall hiring should turn in an application by March, if possible. Teaching contracts usually begin about the first week of August.

Visiting the Area?

If you are not from the local area and are planning a visit here, please send in your application in advance of your visit. You may also call the Personnel Office (254-643-1981) before your visit to see if someone from the Personnel Office will be able to visit with you while you are here. We try to accommodate out-of-area applicants whenever possible.
